Russia and the United States have decided to sign an agreement
envisaging cooperation of the two nations on missile defence systems
and not to use them against each other. There is a standoff b/w the two
countries on the U.S. global missile defence. Washington is providing
security guarantees to Moscow that the system is not aimed at Russian
nuclear deterrence forces. U.S. will provide a “presidential agreement” that does not require legislative approval. President Vladimir Putin for his part will sign a memorandum of understanding confirming the agreement.
