Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Friday said that theresidential building that collapsed in Mumbai suburb Thanewas prima facie caused by jerks due to construction work in the vicinity.
Chavan was making a statement in the assembly after visiting the spot earlier in the day as he informed that41 people were killedin the incident and 60 others injured.

He said confusion prevailed over whom does the land belong to -- forest department or tribal development department.
The chief minister said there were no clearances from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) to any of these projects in the area. He also admitted that no action was taken to stop the illegal construction even as some notices were sent to the violators.
He said a case was registered against builder Jamil Sheikh and another person.
